The Improv Comedy Club gets Five-Year Extension at Harrah's Las Vegas

The Improv, the popular comedy club at Harrah's Hotel and Casino, has signed a five-year extension with Caesars Entertainment, ensuring center-Strip laughs through at least 2015.

Thanks to this contract extension, the Improv is now the longest running comedy club in Las Vegas. Known for its rotating cast of finest comedians, The Improv will also bring back some of the most popular comedians and biggest names from its storied past. The first of The Improv alumni to take the Vegas stage is Jay Mohr who will perform June 24, 25 and 26.

MTV Turning its Attention to Las Vegas for 2011 Spring Break

MTV, the cable network known for its massive teen appeal and yearly Spring Break specials, is taking its annual production to The Palms Las Vegas in 2011 for five days of partying and concerts.

This is the first time that the network has ever filmed in Las Vegas, as MTV looks to change up the vibe of their usual locations by making it an adults-only affair. MTV began the yearly tradition in 1986 but this is the first time that party-goers were required to be 21 years of age to take part in the festivities.

"Everyone's going to be 21 that will be at the pool," said George Maloof, Palms owner. "We'll make sure of that, have plenty of security. It'll be just like what we've always done, which is having respect for obviously our license."

Since many students don't turn 21 until their Junior or Senior year of college, Spring Break revelers tend to choose destinations with more-relaxed drinking laws, such as Mexico where the legal drinking age is 18.

"With our brand, it's a natural fit. We've always attracted the younger crowd and we've always been on the cutting edge of culture," said Maloof.

MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL, which runs a total of 10 properties on The Strip, is estimating a 20% increase in visitors during the Spring Break period and they will entertain visitors with top acts like Cee Lo Green and The Ting Tings in front of Luxor.

Chef Bobby Flay welcomes Guests With a Lion Dance Performance at Caesars Palace

Renowned Chef and Food Network star Bobby Flay, executive chef of Mesa Grill Restaurant, was the most honored guest at Sunday's Chinese New Year celebration at Caesars Palace Las Vegas. Flay took part in the ceremonial "painting of the eyes" to wake the lion and welcome the Year of the Rabbit.

Flay was joined by Caesars Palace President Gary Selesner and Caesars Entertainment Western Division President Tom Jenkin. Caesars Entertainment expands Dog-Friendly 'PetStay' program to eight Las Vegas Resorts

Canines and dog lovers will receive the VIP treatment when they travel to any Caesars Entertainment resort in Las Vegas. Several months after the initial launch of PetStay Las Vegas in October 2010, which offers dog owners and their pets a series of customized hotel zones at Caesars Palace, Imperial Palace and Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the program has now expanded to eight Caesars Enetertainment properties, including Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Paris Las Vegas, Harrah's Las Vegas, Bally's Hotel and Casino and Flamingo Las Vegas.

As part of the PetStay Las Vegas program, guests and their dogs will receive an in-room amenity that includes treats, food and water dishes, and a pet mat. Guests will also get a map of dog-walking routes, on-property designated relief areas and a variety of dog-friendly resources for pet walking, pet sitting, grooming services and veterinarian information.

Each resort offers designated floors and areas as pet-friendly zones. Dogs staying at any resort must weigh 50 pounds or less and be present at the time of check-in. Dogs are permitted to walk through designated common areas while on a leash and accompanied by the owner. Dogs left unattended in a guest room must be crated at all times; crates are available for rental. The PetStay Las Vegas program is a $25-$40 (plus tax) per night upgrade at participating Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas resorts.

Caesars Palace unveils schedule for first Caesars Winter Poker Classic

The Caesars Palace Resort in Las Vegas is getting ready to host its the first-ever Caesars Winter Poker Classic Tournament scheduled to run from Jan. 17 – Feb. 4, 2011.

The Winter Poker Classic kicks off at noon on Jan. 17, with a $120 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event. The tournament series features a total of 27 events with buy-ins ranging from $120 to $550 for the No Limit Hold’em Championship Event.

The tournament schedule also features a series of special events, including the Oklahoma Johnny Hale Seniors Event on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m and awarding the winner a cash prize plus a seat in the 2011 World Series of Poker Seniors Championship Event, as well as a special ladies event taking place on Saturday Jan. 22 at 11 a.m.

Rita Rudner was welcomed to her new home as the newest headliner at The Venetian in grandiose style today, complete with a red carpet arrival covered with pink rose petals.

Wearing a red Valentino dress and pink and purple fur coat, Rita emerged from her limo to a delightful scene of singing gondoliers, Streetmosphere performers and cheering onlookers. Rita jumped on the bell cart with her bags in tow and was wheeled onto the red carpet and into the lobby for more surprises.

A butler waited with a glass of champagne while James Beard Award Winning Chef Luciano Pelligrini from Valentino and Executive Chefs Mark Hopper from Bouchon and Juan Pentes and Daniel Marquez from Taqueria Cañonita had delicious bites for her to taste, including pink cookies to which Rita exclaimed, “Pink is my favorite color!” A spa attendant from Canyon Ranch SpaClub was on hand to provide a hot towel for Rita to freshen up with.

The Venetian and The Palazzo are vying to revolutionize the Las Vegas hotel banquet experience with the hiring of Executive Banquet Chef Scott Donley and Assistant Executive Banquet Chef Stefan Peroutka. The new catering team at The Venetian and The Palazzo Resort and Casino is made up of highly trained, focused and dedicated chefs who produce quality menus and dining experiences without sacrificing for large quantities.

Both professionally trained chefs began their love affair with food at a very young age, and have honed their skills in some of the finest kitchens in Las Vegas, and around the world. From elevated continental and plated breakfasts, to internationally-flavored lunches and grand receptions, this award-winning team is able to tailor menus and event planning to each guest's custom needs.

An honors graduate of the Western Culinary Institute, Chef Donley was introduced to the culinary world by his father and went on to begin his kitchen skills by the time he was 13. Donley has been the executive room service chef for MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, Chef of Intercompany Production at Paris Las Vegas, and Chef de Cuisine of The Palazzo Resort Hoten and Casino before heading banquets and catering for both The Venetian and The Palazzo.

Born and raised in Austria, Chef Peroutka spent his teenage years working in the five star kitchens of Salzburg. Locally, Peroutka has worked at Top of the World at Stratosphere and was executive sous chef at Aureole Las Vegas.
Both chefs have introduced exceptional dishes that run the gamut from innovative and creative to traditional, yet contemporary, such as pastrami pork belly with chickpea fritter and pickled butternut square, or citrus zest star anise seared tuna with micro fennel and wasabi aioli, or entrees such as blue cheese-encrusted filet with caramelized onion potato cake, and seared Pacific halibut with a thyme-infused medley of potatoes. Popular action stations at events include the Philly cheesesteak station which features shaved Angus strip loin, Bravo cheddar cheese and caramelized onions, and a Taco station which offers carne asada or Baja-style fish tacos.

The two chefs join the team of award winning chefs and culinary experts at The Palazzo and Venetian Resort and Casino. Steiner Leisure Limited, a worldwide provider of spa services, today announced an agreement with Tropicana Las Vegas Hotel and Casino to serve as the exclusive operator of the spa facility at the renovated and expanded Tropicana Las Vegas. The term of this agreement is ten years from the opening date of the spa with Steiner's option to renew the agreement for two five-year terms.

This December 3rd, Las Vegas hotel entrepreneur Steve Wynn and restaurant impresario Michael Morton will unveil the new “La Cave Wine and Food Hideaway”, at the Award winning Wynn Las Vegas. Inspired by the famous Latin phrase "in vino veritas" (in wine there is truth), La Cave offers wine and food lovers an escape where guests can enjoy a modern American small plates-menu from Executive Chef William DeMarco, as well as a special global wines selection picked by Wynn Resorts wine director Danielle Price, and La Cave wine director Rober Wright.

La Cave will surprise and please wine connoisseurs and novices alike. Guests can sample a 2000 Harlan Estate Bordeaux-blend from Napa Valley, California, along with other interesting selections such as a 2009 Mollydooker Shiraz Blue Eyed Boy from South Australia.

Open for lunch, dinner and late-night indulgences, La Cave's menu features a wide range of international influences complementing Wright's wine pairings. The menu is divided into categories based on the dishes' origins: From the Sea, Farm, Oven, Garden, Grill, Butcher, and cheeses From The Cow, Sheep or Goat.

The menu includes flavorful flatbreads such as ham, egg and cheese with quail eggs and Neuskes bacon, vegetable dishes such as salt-roasted beets with whipped goat cheese and pistachio, creative seafood dishes including hamachi with pickled chilies and candied lemon zest, as well as meat and poultry options such as horseradish and parmesan-crusted rack of lamb to cater to a range of tastes. The menu also offers grilled dishes such as Angus mini burgers with mushroom and chipotle mayo. In addition, guests can select from a variety of meats and cheeses to create their own charcuterie board.

Designed by 555 International, La Cave is comprised of three distinct spaces — "the cave," main dining room and garden lounge. The cave features cobblewood oak flooring, low vaulted ceilings and a large sign made of red LED lights that reads "In Vino Veritas." An arched steel-metal gate features Latin phrases celebrating food, wine and the arts, evoking the feeling of an exclusive wine cellar in Tuscany while providing a great view of the main dining room.

The spacious and low-lit dining room boasts a center bar outfitted in a herringbone pattern and bookmarked by two wine rooms. A ten person "share table" features a walnut table perched atop two large wine barrels that allows for intimate wine tastings and special events. The garden lounge recalls an oversized living room with mix-and-match custom-made chairs and tables, at which guests can unwind with a glass of wine and small plates from DeMarco.

"La Cave's wine list offers a variety of wines that encourage guests to approach wine from a fresh perspective and explore new varietals" Wright says.

The M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas will welcome the New Year with a property wide celebration set to suit every taste.
